I was worried about keeping the humidity up for my fire-bellied toads, but this moss substrate holds moisture for days without getting moldy. It's also perfect for them to burrow into when they want to feel secure.

The moss holds humidity way better than the coconut fiber I used before, and my salamander’s hide stays damp for days. It’s also soft enough that she burrows right in without any fuss, which is exactly what I wanted for her egg-laying setup.

I put this in my newt’s tank and the natural texture looks way more realistic than the coconut fiber I used before. The moss stays damp for a solid week with just a daily mist.
